TO THE PEOPLE OF DUBLIN

DUBLIN MEN AND DUBLIN WOMEN Your county needs you. We are a group of like-minded Dublin fans who have formed a supporters group for both the Dublin football and hurling teams with the intention of creating the best atmosphere possible in support of our beloved ‘Boys and girls In Blue’

Every year over 80,000 people pack into Croke Park for Dublin football matches but when winter comes Parnell Pk will only have 5/6000 were do these fans go and why .Spirit Of 16 DSC and all our supporters clubs county wide would like to see these supporters Summer and Winter

We know that there are other Dublin Supporters clubs and we hope with help from these we can have a more visual presence at our games. We want to bring back the Spirit of the Hill for real GAA members and like-minded individuals.

Whether it be Hill 16, Parnell Park or away on the road.. If what we stand for appeals to you then read on and feel free to contact us and get involved.

SPIRIT OF 16 ? We chose this name for a few reasons. Most Dublin fans appreciate that they are standing on a part of Dublin and Irish history. Below Dineen Hill 16 is the rubble from the Easter 1916 Rising where hundreds of Dublin men and women fought for Irish Independence, many of them were members of the GAA. We are proud of this tradition and want to bring the integrity and spirit that these ordinary Dubliners had to Hill 16 or wherever we travel.

FLAGS and Banners ? We have adopted the Starry Plough , a blue flag but with navy stars for our county colours, But not only this flag but many flags displaying our pride in Dublin and Irish Culture.

WHAT WE WANT TO DO!

Singing songs .Our repertoire should not be limited to ‘Come on You Boys in Blue’. We would like to see traditional Dublin songs be reintroduced to our games ,along with some new songs and chants.

We want to promote a colorful carnival atmosphere on match days. We are particularly interested in encouraging our children to help us in making our own flags, banners and costumes.

We encourage our members and friends to bring musical instruments, not only for the match but for sing songs, sessions before and after matches.

So when you see our flag at any Hurling, Football or Camogie match countrywide you know you are in a welcoming area for everyone young, old or even the odd culchie!!!!! You know you are with GAA people, people who have a love for our history and culture. If what we stand for appeals to you then feel free to contact us and get involved.
